About

Traditionally when it comes to getting a site online it is a complex and slow process for a client. Not only do you have to find a designer you trust, you need reliable hosting and a domain name. Most small business owners can not afford to have an in-house site administrator resulting in the client being “married” to their site designer and every change, update, new page, etc… has to be run through the Web designer usually at additional costs to the client. Web designers also traditionally hold ownership of your domain from the initial set-up with a registrar and if you decide to go with a new designer or firm untangling and regaining ownership of your domain name can be a frustrating multi-step process that could take weeks.

In my own freelance design experience being “married” to clients kept me from taking on multiple clients. The design process was slow and cumbersome and in the end not very profitable.  It didn’t make sense to increase my fees for simple changes to client sites but my profits were declining. I realized I needed and wanted to give my clients total control over their sites. I needed to have new clients up and running faster,  in days not weeks. My established clients should be able to update and change their site; avoiding high support costs for the customer while keeping me free to take on and support new customers. I needed a system where a user could login and add, change, or update their pages with little to no interaction from me. I looked at several systems but none offered the ease of use I wanted for my clients or it’s coding was cumbersome and a drain on server resources and effected the sites overall performance.

I had used WordPress to set-up blogs in the past and realized that the clean efficient code was exactly what I was looking for. It had all the features needed on the back-end (what my clients see and use to maintain their site) and I could separately code the design or theme for the front-end (what the clients audience sees). It was the perfect solution and I have used it ever since. I can’t say enough great things about WordPress. It is open source code (free to everyone) and is maintained by experienced developers. I absolutely encourage anyone and everyone to do the research and implement and use WordPress on their own. You don’t need to pay anyone to use it, including me! If you feel getting WordPress set-up  is over your head or don’t have the time to get WordPress up and running than I have the solution for you.
